Flavoured Popcorn

One of the best things about living in a hostel is that you can have a movie night anytime you want. Impromptu plans over lunch/dinner can result in late night movie sessions with friends, and during those times, you really love to munch on some popcorn! But being on a student budget means you can't really afford the good stuff. And by good stuff, I mean the flavoured popcorns.

So, a couple of days ago, during one such movie night, I decided to upgrade the regular popcorn that can be bought from the street vendor at a nominal rate- about 500 gm comes in Rs. 30, which is enough for 4 people to sustain a 1 hour 30 minute movie.

And it's super easy. You need just 10 minutes before the movie starts to prep the popcorn.

I tried two flavors- butter and chocolate.

BUTTERED POPCORN

All you need is butter and salt for this one. Melt some butter, add a pinch of salt to it. Pour it in a bowl containing the normal popcorn and give it a nice toss. I covered my bowl with a plate and shook it with all I had. And the end result is buttery popcorn.
If  you want more flavors, you can add anything from oregano to pepper to chili powder. Be as creative as you want to be.

CHOCOLATE POPCORN

I think every hosteler needs chocolate in the room. Since I am addicted to chocolate, I also have a bottle of Hershey's chocolate syrup. So, for the second flavor, put as much chocolate sauce as you want, and give it a good toss. And you have yummy chocolaty popcorn for the movie night.

Cover the bowl with a plate to give it a good shake

Chocolate Popcorn
Alternatively, you can also melt chocolate in the microwave and then pour it over the popcorn. You could try Snickers, 5 Star etc for a variation in flavors too.
